There are many different types of games that are available for play in today’s world. What makes one game better then another? Well, for starters, it has to fun and entertaining. The better it is the higher replay value it has. Then you have games that are meant to be played solo and those that can be played by a group of people, multiplayer games. Solo games aren’t near as much fun as a game that can be played with siblings or friends, so determining what the best game ever is disqualifies any RPG, since most of them are single player games. Next you have to look at the platform that the game is played on. Is it a new, next-generation console game or is it played on a classic system like the Nintendo. The newer consoles have obvious superior graphics, but that doesn’t make the old games inferior, in fact, many of the old games are the best to play because time wasn’t spent on improving the look of the game, it was spent making the game fun to play, which is where many new console games fail, because the creators of the game try to make it look good and forget the quality of the game play. With all of that said, let’s get into some of the best games ever made.

Mario Brothers

Mario needs to be talked about first since it is undoubtedly the best series ever. What makes Mario so fun and addicting? What’s not to like, you are an Italian plumber that has a brother named Luigi. These two characters that you control are the classic hero because your ultimate in this game is to save the girl, in this case Princess Toadstool. In your quest to save the princess you run through levels jumping on the heads of turtles and riding a dinosaur like animal called Yoshi. You can jump high, run fast, and even fly up and over or under enemies as you race for the end of the level on your quest to the castle, where Bowser awaits you and the Princess is the prize behind him. There are many Mario games, three on Nintendo plus Dr. Mario; there are also a few titles on Super Nintendo, many on the Nintendo 64 and also on game cube, game boy, DS, and the new Wii; Mario has party games, tennis games, racing games, it is a very versatile franchise. It is a very addicting game, every one in the series is, but the best is Super Mario World on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

Donkey Kong Country

This game is very similar to The Super Mario Bros. games, but this time you are a big gorilla that is trying to save his banana hoard. Like Mario DK also has a sidekick,

Buying a video game as a gift is a lot like buying intimate apparel for a co-worker. There are so many variables and you’d better know the recipient very well. Having said that, if you’re still considering buying a video game for someone you know, read on and become enlightened.

Before continuing, you’ll need to know some critical details. First and foremost is the game console. Since a game created for the Xbox 360 won’t work in a PlayStation 2, nor will a GameCube game work in a Wii, it’s important to know the system. The same can be said for PC games. If their computer isn’t powerful enough, you could easily buy more game than the computer can handle. Even if their computer is powerful enough, their sound and graphics cards may not be up to snuff. Now that you’re getting a better picture of potential console conflicts, let’s look at game genres.

What sort of games does this person like? First Person Shooters (FPS) are very popular games with guys, but others prefer strategy games. Even then, do they like real-time strategies or turn-based? Perhaps they prefer more active games like flight simulators or car racing games. There are dozens of genres out there and literally hundreds upon hundreds of titles to choose from. Picking the right game can means months of happy gaming while choosing the wrong game means a waste of money.

The age and gender of the gamer also comes into play. Should you be looking into an educational game or a simulation game? Even if you think you have all the variables nailed down, not everyone fits into the demographic you put them in. You really have to know the player to understand their game of choice.

If you simply want to get them whatever is hot at the moment, here is a list of the top ten games currently available: Halo 3, The Orange Box, Rock Band, Super Mario Galaxy, Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Mass Effect, Ace Combat 6 and God of War 2. Keep in mind that these might not be what the gamer in your life would choose, only what’s selling the most right now.

There are really only three ways to ensure you get a gift that will be well-received. Ask the recipient exactly what game they would like. Have them write it down so there are no mistakes. This eliminates any decisions on your part, except how much you’re willing to spend. You could also take your gamer shopping, letting them decide which game they’d like. Bear in mind that video games can cost anywhere from $9 for bargain bin games to over $75 for the high-end goods. You could find yourself in a costly situation if you aren’t diplomatic about your spending limits. In either case, the element of surprise is completely lost.

There is a third, and better choice. A gift certificate or card gives you several advantages. You don’t have to shop around and sift through countless games. Making a mistake is next to impossible. The choice of games, consoles, etc. is left in the hands of the recipient. Time is no longer an element; they have all the time they need to pick out the game they really want. They can even hold onto the card until something really good comes out. Recipients can also buy their gift over the Internet, allowing them a lot more flexibility. The only decisions you’ll need to make are where to purchase the gift card and how much money to put into it. I recommend purchasing a gift card from a place like Best Buy, Circuit City or Game Stop.

What kind of gamer are you? Decide this first, then choosing games is easy!

1) The Chew Them Up and Spit Them Out Gamer

All you want to do is complete the game. You don’t care if you have to use cheats and will hunt them down from magazines or websites. You play all your games on the easiest setting, even if it bores you to tears that way, just so that you can finish the games.

Genres and games for you –

Platform classics (especially ones with ‘bosses’ at the end of each stage)

Street fighter equivalents (more ‘bosses’)

Free trials from the Internet (usually easy to finish)

2) The Emotional Gamer

You really connect with your characters, and therefore they should be as cute and fluffy as possible. You care little for age-appropriate content and will happily play your niece’s games.

Genres and games for you –

Pokemon (not too much death)

Kirby (terminally cute!)

Any of the many pet games based on the concept of caring for your critter, though try not to cry if he goes to doggy heaven!

3) The Sportsman/woman

You don’t really want to be on the computer, but either it’s raining or your league hasn’t started its season yet. There is plenty around to interest you.

Genres and games for you –

Team sport games – Fifa series for soccer, etc.

Manager games – probably best played on-line so you can compete – eg. Fantasy Football

Active sport games – tennis games on the Wii, surfing games where you wobble around to control them, and lots of options if you make it to an arcade

4) The Obsessive Gamer

You want to be the best and you will be! You can spend hours on the most boring of games, simply because no one else will ever spend as long on it as you or get as good!

Genres and games for you –

Obscure games – try some of the free Internet downloads to see what you like

New, imported games – if no one else has it, you WILL be the best – you can move on if it becomes popular

5) The Intellectual Gamer

You want games that prove your superiority! Word games, maths games, logic games, you will excel at them all. Just don’t let the ten-year-old next door get hold of your Brain Training game…

Genres and games for you –

Lots from Nintendo at the moment

Plenty of free down-loadable games

Scrabulous on Facebook

Basically, there are games now for everyone. If possible, play before you buy, on line, at friends or in the stores. Know yourself, know your preferences and don’t be swayed by flash advertising into buying games you will never play.

Tell me if this is not true. You are at your local best buy checking out the new Plasma screen televisions, when you’re 12 year old son confronts you with the oh so familiar boxed computer game. You give in to the pressure because your son has done his chores in the past week, so you pay the 30$ fee for the game. Later on in the month you hear the sound of gunshots and explosions coming from your son’s room. You go into the room only to see your son playing an extremely realistic first person shooter game, and marvel at the fact that video games have changed so much since you played them when you were a kid.

Let’s face it, computer games and the “gaming industry” is rapidly evolving. If you were to ever play the first created computer game, “Spacewar!”, created by MIT students Alan Kotok and Martin Graetz, in 1961, you would almost stop playing so you could try and stop yourself from laughing. Games in the following decade were just as “visually impressive”, generally being text games and “interactive fiction”.

To help spark the rise of computer games, magazines such as “Computer Gaming World” would post computer codes in their articles so that readers could type these codes into their own personal computers and play the games at home. Soon, the gaming community would be creating their own game programs and slowly but surely advancing the industry.

In 1983 there was a crash in the video game industry, mainly because there was an abundance of poorly made games. This crash mainly effected the console side of the video game industry, but did have significant effects on the computer game industry as well. A light to this video crash tunnel would be the release of the Nintendo Entertainment Console.

Soon there would be the introduction of the new mouse control, a device that would be the spark to a gasoline of “first person shooter” games. Advances in graphics would produce games like “Wolfenstein 3d” (1992) and “Doom” (1993), a game that stretched the visual limits of computer games at the time.

“Doom” caused computer graphics to become much better and soon came a game that in my personal opinion, revolutionized gaming to what it is today. That game was “Half-Life” ,created by Valve. “Half-Life” (1998) set the standard for games, with new functions such as the manipulation of the environment, and a non-consequential action system (i.e. you can kill a fellow scientist with no punishment in further game action). The Half-Life graphics and physics engine was encouraged to be modified, this encouragement led to the Half-Life mod “Counter-Strike”. With Counter-Strike, the gaming industry went from a recreational activity to becoming a sport. These games changed the way games would be played forever.

Soon improved graphics engines would be created and games like “Doom 3″ and “Half-Life 2″ would be pushing the envelope on visual performance. These games would have advanced artificial intelligence and more freedom of the player in the environment. These games ran on Microsoft’s directx9 graphics engines.

Now in the gaming world, the directx10 graphics engine is about to be released in games. The most anticipated game being “Crysis”. “Crysis” and directx10 boast better water visuals, a huge increase in environment manipulation, and a multiplier of simultaneous actions. This new technology will further improve the rapidly evolving gaming industry in the future.

Choosing a video game console can be very difficult and confusing at times, that is why you must first fully understand the characteristics of each device. Each companies’ device has differant features that offer differant types and levels of gaming. Some companies focus very highly on a certain type of gaming, and also who is it that are going to be playing their games. For instance: the Gamegube is a very fast and dependable console that is directed mainly to the market of younger children. With games like Mario and Donkey Kong, we know that our children are going to be safe from unwanted content, because those are the games we grew up with. While consoles like the XBOX and Playstation are directed towards the more mature levels of gaming. They produce games like Halo and Grand Theft Auto that are too realistic for a child or younger level of gaming.

To many consumers of video games, they want the hot titles like, Halo,GTA(grand theft auto),and Zelda. Which are all very good games. But they all are on differant systems. Why is that? Because they attact certain addiences to their devices. The game, Halo, is a very well thought out game that is designed to be played with many people.that is why XBOX has their online gaming. So that you may play many of their games with people around the world. Playstation has games like Final Fantasy and GTA. That many adults love to play. They also have many child approprieate games like Sponge Bob and other title from their favorite TV shows. Nintendo however has the majority of popular games. Games that we’ve grown up with for almost 20 years, such as Mario,DK( donkey kong), and Zelda. These games have many followers, and are very trusted among adults due to their content towards younger gamers.

Each device or console offers many applications besides just gaming. XBOX has many features, such as the online gaming,XBOX Live. It also has a DVD player in it and allows you to save a countless amount of memory without the use of memory cards. It also contains a feature that allows you to download your CD’s and play your favorite songs during your game. Playstation 2 also has a dvd player and requires that you buy a memory card to save data. The playstation 2 allows you to use you old playstation game from their previous system on the new one. Nintendo however, doesn’t have a dvd player or an online gaming system, and it also needs memory card as well, but the “engine” inside the gamecube, is the fastest out of the three. Which makes me beleive that they are very focused on the games they supply.

Gaming consoles upgrade about every five to seven years, so when you are hunting for that next console remember to do your homework and design what kind of gamer you enjoy the most. Thank you very much and keep on gaming.

Strategy games are a broader category than most people realize. They vary from strict war simulations like Memoir 44 to fantasy games like Lord of the Rings to economic and social simulations like Settlers of Cattan. Getting the right game for the right person is tricky, but there’s actually probably a game out there for everyone, at least if the person likes games in the first place.

The first thing to consider is the person’s age and sensibilities. For the pre-teen, for the person who won’t watch a violent film, then your best option is a more social strategy game.

For young children, about 10 or so, which really is a kind of minimum for strategy games which involve a lot of reading and critical thinking skills, I would recommend a fun game called Bone Wars, which is about collecting Dinosaur Bones. Okay, it may not be the perfect game for a creationist, but I don’t even think a religiously conservative person would find anything to object to, considering it simulates the great paleontology rush of the 19th century.

For kids over 12 and adults, I really recommend Settlers of Cattan. It involves developing your villages and road system. There is a lot of bargaining and planning. If you like your games social, and you don’t have the patience to wait your turn for something to do, this is a good game for you.

As to war games and tactical strategy games, after the little ones get tired of the basics of Stratego and Risk, they should try Axis and Allies. It is a good introduction to turn-based military simulations.

For someone older and more interested in an accurate simulation of historical battles, the Memoir 44 series of games recreates in great detail and with great passion, the important campaigns of WWII.

For something more quirky, there’s a fun little game out there called Antarctica that posits the war after global warming has made a mess of everything. It is very ironic and kind of grimly humorous, but it is a fine war game, if you don’t care about history.

the final type of strategy game is the Fantasy Adventure game. Fantasy adventure games are based on the idea of blending a little role-playing with a lot of strategic movement of fantasy units on a map of some sort. They can range from exceedingly complicated and detail-rich, to frivolous exercises in battling elves and orcs. The granddaddy of them all is Lord of the Rings. It is a fairly amusing attempt to capture the flavor of the Tolkien books in a way that keeps the gaming aspect in the front of the mix. That’s the problem with fantasy adventure games. They may get the flavor right, but they forget to make the game playable. I remember a dozen games of this type that I bought and then tried desperately to sell on Ebay. The Game of Thrones, Arkham Horror and Conquest of the Fallen Lands are all games in this category that are sure to be interesting, once you’ve determined that this kind of game is for you.

All in all, strategy games come in all sizes and ages. The ones that have stood the test of time and the tides of metaphorical wars are in their vaunted position for a reason; these hoary games are fun and somehow they enrich the lives of those that play. You can’t ak for better than that.

We hired the services of a developer online to help make an android app which our company was conceptualizing and since we were not a software developing company, we had to hire the services of trained professionals and developer of android applications for mobile devices in order to be able to make an android app that is fit for our needs. You see the reason for such is that we issue company phones from time to time and we noticed that iphones are more easier and in fact the most essential type of mobile there is which you can use even for work, then we might as well improve it and integrate our own systems and design to make it a personalized company phone. And with this site we contracted called androidappdevelopers.net, we knew we had the best in the market for this is a truly proven site which our sister company had already utilized before and we had seen its work and we are impressed by it actually. And if we get this thing to work for us, then it will really be a good improvement not only for our mobiles, but for the company image too as imagine being hired in a company and then issued a phone that will be able to access office files through a secure system. Now that is impressive if you think and since the app is only for us, it is a guarantee it will be unique.<DONTREWRITE>

Trading card games (TCG) or collectable card games (CCG) are hugely popular. There seems to be a game out there for almost every commercial property from Harry Potter to World of Warcraft. Each of these games have their own unique form of play and terminology. To the uninitiated this can be like a whole other language. To list the terminology for every game would be overwhelming, but most games have some very similar terminology.

Deck- This is the collection of cards that is legally formatted for the given game. Each player starts the game with his or her own deck that can be a standard deck sold in one piece (starter deck)or customized with booster packs.

Starter Deck- Most games put together a deck that introduces the game to players in a simple fashion. These are usually called starter decks. Starter decks are usually used to learn the game and are not usually competitive in play.

Theme Deck- A theme deck is a pre-built deck sold by a company that operates using a specific theme. These are usually stronger and more complicated than starter decks.

Booster Packs- Booster packs are randomized cards sold in packs. They are used to build your library of playable cards and to make your deck more competitive. They usually come in packs of eight to fourteen cards and will contain at least one rare card. Depending on the game, packs will also contain one foil card.

Discard Pile- this is where a player puts cards that are to be discarded for various effects in the game. This is also known as a K.O. pile and a Graveyard.

Keyword- Keywords are words on a card, usually in bold, that give that card a certain understood ability. This will, at times, be spelled out on the card but often will not. Games will have respective lists of keywords in their rulebooks.

Mulligan- To redraw ones initial hand. Because of the strategy based strategy of collectible card games, getting the cards you need is very important. Most games incorporate a way to mulligan to give players the best opportunity to get cards they need to be competitive and have fun. Some games allow this to be done with no cost.

Game Mechanic- This is the way that a game operates. You may have to turn a card a certain direction to indicate something about the card or to use the cards ability. The game mechanic will incorporate terminology that is unique to that game.

Most games have their own terminology that is explained in their rules. In fact, learning the terminology is paramount to understanding the rules of most games. A lot of games will have the same game mechanic with different terminology. Games will usually try and incorporate aspects of the game itself into the terminology, thereby enhancing the immersive feeling of the game.

Although the terminology of games is ever expanding and unique for most games, it is very easy to pick up. Knowing the basic terminology above and having a good teacher or rule book will put you on the road to enjoyment that is associated with collectible card games.

The Best Xbox 360 game would have to be The Elders Scrolls: Oblivion! This game has one of the best looking graphic systems that I have seen so far. I am an avid RPG (Role-Playing Game) fan and player and I have many on the Xbox 360.

Oblivion is a single-player game only, but it does have some online capabilities such online downloadable content from Xbox Live and there have been several patches and updates for the game some of which have really expanded the game play and added many more achievement points to the game, so it not only made me want to play the game more because of the new and exciting mods that Bethesda was making for the game, but for the fact that they also were generous enough to add more achievement points to the game furthering my gamer score, which everyone with Xbox Live know, if you have a low gamer score you are a pitiful gamer lol.

When the game starts off you are in jail and you have to find your way out, but once you do you can tell the game is going to be amazing to look at and the sound tracks are awesome as well. The dialogue is a little lacking as is in most RPG games, but for the most part you get used all the characters repeating the same lines in only one of maybe six different accents.

When the game starts you are given the task of finding the hidden heir to a throne that now sits bear, the previous king was killed by some unknown assassin. Your task is to go through the world of Tamriel and search out the heir and solve many side quests during your struggle.

The game play is like most RPG games, you hack and slash your way through enemies or you can sit at a distance and pick them off with your bow. Some of my favorite moments are using spells from a great distance and watching the people scatter. The game has an alchemy system that allows you to create your own concoctions some with good effects, some with ill effects and you can even create enchantments for your weapons to make them stronger or give them a special attribute.

One of my favorite things to do in the game was to collect as many “Feather” potions as possible so that I could use a glitch in the game to shoot off into the sky like a rocket and I could look down on the entire map and see the edges where normally you cannot see or get to from the map, it was like I was Superman jumping over tall buildings and over steep mountains.

The games leveling system is a little too easy though as I was able to level up so quickly that I wasn’t even done with the first part of the main story mode mission and I was already mostly unable to be harmed and had more specialty items and weapons than I was supposed to at that point in the game. Oblivion allows you to do that though, I was eighty hours into the game before I basically started the main mission there was even more side quests to do, but I got to a point in the game where I had to do at least part of the main story mode mission or else I wasn’t really going to be able to progress further in the game.

There are several mods for the game that Bethesda released which included more armor, items, etc, but they also released new locations that came in the mods such as The Elder Scrolls IV: Knights of the Nine, The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles, Oblivion Vile Lair, Oblivion Thieves Den and Oblivion Wizards Tower. All of these mods added new areas to explore enhancing an already spectacular game.

There are so many reasons to play this game, as I have over three hundred and eighty hours in the game and I’m still only about ninety-three percent complete with the game. I hope there will be a sequel to this game, Bethesda really knows how to make an awesome RPG game!

Heres a review which basically will give a list of some of the best games I have ever played and also a brief summary and why its so good. Obviously listing the greatest games of all time the first titles that come to mind are Halo, GTA, and other popular titles. and Yes These are all brilliant games and I will cover them.

I’m gonna start with listing games I loved that where on the Sega Dreamcast as this is probably my favorite console of all time. One of my all time favorites which was only on this console was “Blue Stinger”. Blue Stinger was a truly awesome game, it had all the features that make a great game, A brilliant story line, It was just the right difficulty and by that I mean it wasn’t easy but it wasn’t so hard that you gave up on it, it had a huge selection of weapons and for the time the graphics were pretty stunning. I have to say that if you have never owned a Dreamcast, Buy one. I see them in Game shop windows all over the place for around 20 and the game itself is about a fiver. Thats cheaper then any modern game and it includes a decent console too. Not to mention the other brilliant games availably on the console. Blue Stinger is definitely a game worth going back to sometime.

Ok my second game, and I know I must sound like a hardcore Dreamcast fan but I will move on, is “Sonic Adventure”. This is one of my favorites games because Sonic Adventure in my opinion was the first and best 3D sonic. Now if you don’t like sonic games, I understand, Its not for everyone but the hours I spent on this game where endless, I dunno if you’ve ever had a game you can just complete over and over again without getting bored of the storyline or the game play but for me, this is what this game did. I am also aware that a re-release of this game was made for P.C and Gamecube which also had some of the older Sonic games built in on top of an improved version of Sonic adventure. Also note the the sequel “Sonic Adventure 2″ was also a great game.

OK my next game is on the Game boy. Now I’m not a big Game Boy fan, I think alot of the games are crap to be honest but I have to list “Pokemon Blue, Red and Yellow” in the best games of all time simply because it was a Game Boy game everyone loved. Now I know they have made dozens of sequels to this game with more Pokemon or a better story line but to be honest I played one and I think Pokemon games are best kept simple. The reason I think this is a good game is because it was the first game to use the link
