A brief history of extreme sports

Probably some people still could not understand why there are group of people like to do extreme sport. This extreme sport became popular as one of favorite sport since the beginning of the 90′s (even some people also thought that extreme sport already started in the early 1970s. Some sports such as bungee jumping, big wave surfing, snowboarding, mountain biking, in-line skating, white-water kayaking, or skydiving have been categorized as extreme sports. Extreme sports require participants to combine athletic skill with pronounced risk.

But this extreme sports in some places also has been banned as dangerous sports because they are too extreme or people can get serious injured if some thing goes wrong during the sport activity.

That’s why this extreme sport is also called as outlaw sports.

As you know, they called this sport as extreme sport because these sports contains some element of danger during the activity. For example bungee jumping, people will jump from very high point, go down straight forward. Of course we know that they will have some kind of protection such as strong string and other protection as well. But still there is element of danger that can go wrong when they are doing the bungee jumping.

Other extreme sports actually were some kind of new versions from other sport that we probably knew before. BMX racing or mountain racing is one of extreme sport which was known as biking in the previous version. But then since in the race, there is element of danger that people need to do, it is now known as extreme sport.

Even though extreme sports can be dangerous sport, some people really like and think that doing this kind of sport can give them some recreational thing. It is a challenge, for doing an extreme sport, especially when they do it in a group of people.

That is why some people said that extreme sports are kind of sport that combined not only the physical sports but also include mental sports in doing the sport itself. Before they start to do this sport or choose the extreme sport, they really need to know if they can stand or block their fear which people always have as a nature.
